Lord, teach us

Lord, teach us.
- Pastor Ashish Mathews

Luke 11.1
Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”

Prayer was of top most priority in the life of Jesus. The disciples never saw Jesus skip prayer in spite of his busy schedule. For Jesus, prayer was more important than ministry itself. The disciples understood the secret behind the successful life of Jesus and they asked him, Lord, teach us how to pray.

God created mankind in his image and in his likeness so he could fellowship with us. Fellowship was the reason for creation. Fellowship results in dominion. This is exactly what we see in the life of Jesus. He was in daily and constant communion with his Father and the result was, he dominated every where he went. He healed people, walked on water, spoke to a fig tree, rebuked fever, scolded winds, raised the dead, blessed humanity and glorified his Father. Prayer should never be a burden. Its an awesome privilege that God has given humanity to connect with him. The apostle Paul says pray without ceasing. That means always stay connected to God. Jesus said I am the vine, you are the branches, he who abides in me and my words abide in him will bear much fruit, for without me you can do nothing. This verse shows the power of fellowship, the power of prayer. Jesus has given us his name to use in prayer. He has given us his word to help us understand the principles that govern prayer. He has given the mighty Holy Spirit to help us in our prayer life. What a wonderful Saviour we have!

Saint, you were created to have fellowship with God. Begin spending time with God every day of your life. Pray to the Father in the name of Jesus and ask according to his word and He will answer. Worship him with songs of praise and thanksgiving. Spend time praying in tongues. Spend time listening to Him, for our God is not dead but alive. You may be struggling in some areas of your life today but as you start spending time with God, you will begin to overcome the challenges and enjoy your life. Begin today. God bless you.

*"I am a person of prayer. Prayer is my priority. Spending time with my Father is my top most priority. I walk with my Father and I have dominion in every area of life. Thank you Lord!"*
